How do I know I can still hear God?”

Destiny Cochran, Worship Leader and Trevina Jefferson

Last week, I asked a woman leader I trust a question that had been heavy on my heart:

“How do I know I can still hear God?”

About a year ago, I would sit in my prayer room in silence—and He would speak.

He would give me words of direction, comfort, and clarity.

Sometimes He would visit me in the early morning hours—2 or 3 a.m.—with visions and instruction so clear I knew exactly what to do next.

But recently… it felt different.

Even though I was:

• Spending more time in the Word

• Training in ministry

• Leading a women’s leadership discipleship group

• Staying in environments that pour into me

I wasn’t hearing Him the same way.

She paused and said something that shifted everything:

“Don’t put God in a box.

Don’t restrict Him—He can show up in anything and through anyone.”

In that same conversation, she shared she had been in choir for over 15 years. I asked her to lead worship… and she declined.

The very next day, I reached out to two Christian colleges about student volunteers—both said it likely wouldn’t work.

Later that day, I went to check on the event setup at Regent.

As I walked in… I heard piano.

Beautiful. Anointed.

And a voice that sounded like heaven.

I thought there must be an event happening—but there was only one person in the room.

After I finished setting up, we talked.

She shared she was a Regent student…

A worship leader at her church…

And she just happened to be available on the exact day of our event.

Then she asked if she could bring others to help.

When I asked her name…

I almost fell.

“Destiny.”

In that moment, God told me a whole story.

He answered me—not in the way I expected…

But through people, through movement, through alignment.

I asked if I could still hear Him.

And He responded through Destiny.

✨ Welcome Destiny Cochran—our Worship Leader, helping us enter His presence at the Crowned Executive Table.
